The "Tatflot" shipping company nowadays is one of the biggest company's conducting activities within the water area in the Republic of Tatarstan in the Volga and Kama rivers.The enterprise provides a full range of services related to water transport: passenger transportation, including touristic, excursion and walking services; transportation by cargo fleet, towage of courts; cargo handling, including cargo operations, warehousing activities and forwarding services; the development of sand and gravel area, surveyor services in developing mineral resources, drilling for exploring solid minerals, searching for the structural wells and key holes; nonmetal mining; and manufacturing work. The "Tatflot" company’s branch offices and subdivisions are as follows: Kazan passenger port, Chistopol passenger port, "Tetyushi" dock, "Non-metallic minerals" production association.
A river port in Kazan is connected with three main thoroughfares:
- a waterway;
- a railway siding (there is a "Kazan" interchange yard on Gorkovskiy rail road );
- Kazan highway connecting the enterprise with such cities like Orenburg, Ufa, Nizhniy Novgorod.
It helps the port to process various cargos in either direction regardless of the transport type (whether it is a car shipping, water or railway transportation). The guaranteed depth of the port's moorage wall provides unimpeded passage of river and sea boats of any kind.
